Recent work from the
Notre Dame University Anagama
(May 2003)

After the gas-fired warm-up of 3 days, this kiln was woodfired from Wednesday morning to Sunday noon. What you are seeing is all-natural ash....mostly oak and cherry wood were burned. The piece is 14 inches tall. This is actually the view of the backside of the piece as we were unloading... the side away from the firebox. The front of the kiln had a quite heavy ash depost. The clay body is a combination of my #12 and #13 (you can find those recipes in the Ceramics Technical article, "An Approach To Long Woodfire", from a few years back). Both bodies have a bit of Nephelene Syenite in them.
