endevous 99 is an exhibition being held from April 10th to July 11. It is a Biannual National Ceramic Invitational hosted by The Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, Nebraska. This event is curated by Jake Jacobson, Associate Professor of Art at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. An online version of the show gives quite a good representation of the event.
A novel idea with this exhibition is that each invited artis was allowed to invite another 'guest' artist of their own, who is also represented with a work in the show. This is quite an interesting way to explore new and interesting talent, with the artists becoming quasi curators of their own.
With 29 artists and a guest each, totalling 58 entries, this is a major show of American ceramics. Artists include such diverse people as Linda Arbuckle, Rudy Autio, Clayton Bailey, Wayne Higby, Catharine Hiersoux, Adrian Saxe and too many others to mention here.
Each artist's page features an image and a statement by that artist and their 'guest'. The show is on at the gallery untill July 11th 1999. The gallery is located at 2401 Central Avenue, Kearney, Nebraska. If you're in town, don't miss this important show of American Ceramics!
